SQF Edition 10 elevates Environmental Monitoring as a Core Clause and places greater emphasis on a documented, risk-based environmental assessment to determine the level of monitoring needed based on a facility’s processes, products, and food safety risks. This shift supports a move from environmental monitoring as a compliance activity toward a more risk-driven preventative control system, with greater relevance for audit readiness.
Whether building a program from the ground up or enhancing an existing one, participants will gain practical guidance on what SQF Edition 10 means for their facility and how to strengthen their environmental monitoring program.
Presented with Eurofins Food Assurance, this session will explain how environmental monitoring connects to hazard analysis, risk assessment, and documented program decisions, including what it is and what it is not. Practical considerations will include what to test, where to sample, how often to monitor, and how to determine sampling needs based on facility risk.
The session will also address applicable pathogen testing, specification limits, trend analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative actions to help turn monitoring data into meaningful, actionable insights.
