Practitioner Requirements & Training

SQF practitioners develop, implement, maintain, and improve SQF systems at their organizations. To be classified as an SQF practitioner, there are certain requirements that must be in place, and training can help you reach these requirements. SQF practitioner requirements are outlined in system element 2.1.1.4 and 2.1.1.5 of the SQF Food Safety Code and are listed below.

For most of the SQF Food Safety Codes, the primary and substitute SQF practitioner shall:

  1. Be employed by the site;
  2. Hold a position of responsibility related to the management of the site's SQF system;
  3. Be competent to implement and maintain HACCP-based food safety plans; and
  4. Have an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code: Food Manufacturing and the requirements to implement and maintain an SQF system relevant to the site's scope of certification.

Practitioner Training and Exams

We offer several training courses to help you become an SQF practitioner; however, no one examination will qualify an individual to be an SQF practitioner. Our practitioner training includes the following.
