We offer instructor-led and self-paced courses to help you implement our programs and Codes and become SQF certified. Many of these courses are offered through SQF-licensed training centers.
Implementing SQF Systems
Instructor-led
This course is designed to help you clearly understand our Food Safety Codes and is essential for an SQF practitioner or those responsible for developing, aligning, verifying, maintaining, and otherwise supporting the site’s SQF food safety system and its culture of food safety.
Implementing SQF Fundamentals
Instructor-led or Self-paced
Explore the seven foundational programs that, along with a food safety plan, make up the SQF Fundamentals Code: product specifications, facility construction and maintenance, sanitation, personal hygiene and cross-contamination, approved suppliers, product identification and traceability, and the internal audit plan.
Advanced SQF Practitioner
Instructor-led
This course is designed for current SQF practitioners seeking further information on how to improve and maintain the site’s SQF system. Topics include internal audit programs, corrective action/preventive action processes, senior management communications, and much more.
Implementing the SQF Quality Code
Instructor-led or Self-paced
This course takes SQF practitioners to the next level by teaching the impact of quality parameters on the site’s product and operation, helping sites understand how the SQF Quality Code syncs with the SQF Food Safety Codes in methodology and terminology and allowing participants to apply quality tools and techniques to the implementation of the SQF Quality Code.
Auditing the SQF Code Requirements
Instructor-led
This course provides prospective registered SQF certification auditors with an understanding of how to apply auditing principles when auditing the SQF Code for site certification.
Auditing SQF Quality Systems
Instructor-led
Prospective SQF quality auditors are required to understand the structure, requirements, and execution of the SQF Quality Code. This course provides an understanding of how to assess a site against the SQF Quality Code.
SQF Packaging Auditor Course
Instructor-led
This course is designed for the candidate seeking qualification to conduct SQF certification audits of food packaging materials. The information covered includes all aspects of food packaging, the food-level risk of packaging, and compliance with the intended food packaging process use for rigid (plastic, metal, glass), bulk (plastic, fabric), flexible, paper or corrugate, and special packaging.

These self-paced courses, created by SQF and designed for cross-functional teams, not just the SQF practitioner, deal with critical food safety areas and provide best practices and procedures to identify and mitigate the top areas of risk at your site.
SQF Implementing Courses
Self-paced
These self-paced courses help sites understand fundamental food safety program topics. These seven SQF implementation courses, built by SQF Code creators, offer practical tips based on Edition 9 audit data to help you continuously improve your SQF system.
Site Exams and Auditor Exams
Self-paced
Our exams assess food safety professionals’ knowledge of each of the SQF programs: Food Safety, Quality, Fundamentals, and Risk. Auditor exams are required by those candidates seeking registration as an SQF food safety auditor, quality auditor, or technical reviewer.
SQF Professional Update
Self-paced
The four-hour SQF Professional Update is a requirement for SQF Professionals (Auditors, Technical Reviewers, Consultants, and Trainers) seeking annual re-registration with the SQF program; however, anyone is welcome to participate.
