SQFI Ethical Sourcing Program

SQFI offers two Ethical Sourcing (ES) Certification Standards. ES Edition 2.1 is a social, environmental, and occupational health and safety management system for the food industry. The SQFI ES Standard provides a core set of requirements for documenting applicable management systems and procedures/practices to demonstrate a site’s commitment to ethical sourcing practices. Fundamental Factors for Social Responsibility (F2SR) covers social, and occupational health and safety management system requirements for manufacturing and service organizations of all types.

Registration

To obtain official Registration documentation, food manufacturing organizations may opt for ES 2.1 Certification, and must comply with certain social and environmental requirements, such as wage compliance, restrictions on child labor, occupational health and safety, pollution prevention, air emissions management and wage management. Alternatively, manufacturing and service organizations of all types may seek F2SR Certification, with a focus on social and occupational health and safety management systems.

Retailers

For retailers, requiring the Ethical Sourcing Assessment ensures that your suppliers have taken action to address both the concerns of your consumers and the health of your brand. And for producers, obtaining Ethical Sourcing assessment provides positive assurance that your products have met SQF standards for social and environmental responsibility.
