With the release of the 6th Edition of the SQF Code, SQF Practitioners are no longer required to take an SQF approved HACCP training course. Any HACCP training will be acceptable to fulfill the requirements to become an SQF Practitioner.

The SQF 2000 online training course for Implementing SQF 2000 Systems will be launched in Spring, 2009.

Traditional classroom training will continue to be available before and after the launch of the online training. The SQF Institute will offer classroom training for Implementing SQF 2000 Systems through March, 2009. Thereafter, Implementing SQF Systems classes will only be offered through licensed training centers.

All courses conducted by SQF licensed Training Centers are identical in content to those provided by the SQF Institute. We work closely with a carefully selected number of Training Centers that meet our requirements as a recognized center of excellence providing training to the food industry. By offering standardized training materials and requiring registration of all SQF trainers, we are able to ensure consistency in the delivery and content of the educational message.

The classroom training and online exam are not offered as a bundle. This allows prospective SQF Practitioners the option to take (audit) the class without sitting the exam. Similarly, you also have the option to sit the exam without having taken the classroom training. SQF Practitioner certificates are only issued, however, upon gaining a passing grade after sitting the online exam. We highly recommend, therefore, that individuals wishing to become SQF Practitioners take both the classroom training AND the exam.
