What is Recognized HACCP Training?

Recognized HACCP Training is training that meets the CODEX guidelines outlined in the “WHO (1996). Training aspects of the hazard analysis critical control point system (HACCP). Report of a Workshop on Training in HACCP with the participation of FAO, Geneva, 1–2 June 1995. Geneva, World Health Organization” and that this training is:

1. Recognized as a HACCP training course used extensively in a country.
2. Administered and delivered by an institution recognized as a food safety training center of excellence.
3. Must be a minimum of three days (24 hrs) in duration.
4. must be examinable.

Why is Recognized HACCP Training Required?

The SQF Program requires SQF Experts and SQF Auditors to be registered with SQFI and that they meet the relevant Criteria outlined for SQF Experts and SQF Auditors. One of the criterion is that they successfully complete Recognized HACCP Training.

What is the process for inclusion on the Register?

Applications are invited from Food Industry Training Centres that meet the criteria above. For inclusion in SQFI’s Register of Recognized HACCP Training Courses, the Administrator of the course must submit the following information in electronic format to:

The Technical Manager
SQF Institute
SQF Institute

1. Name and address of the institution;
2. Contact person at the institution;
3. Evidence that the course meets the conditions 1-5 outlined.

The SQF website, www.sqfi.com , provides detailed documents on the SQF 1000 and 2000 Codes, criteria for SQF training bodies, trainers and training courses and SQF Auditors and SQF Experts.
