Are Practitioners registered by SQF?

SQFI no longer registers SQF Practitioners. Only SQF Consultants, Trainers and Auditors are registered and listed on the SQFI website. An SQF Practitioner is an individual assigned by their employer to develop, implement and maintain the company's SQF system. An SQF Consultant is an external professional registered with the SQF Institute as being competent to share their expertise and experience of the SQF program.

How much does it cost to register as a Consultant?

New consultants pay an initial non-refundable application fee at the time the application is submitted. A registration fee is payable upon approval of the application. There is an annual fee payable when the registration is renewed. There is an additional charge of $100.00 each time an applicant applies for an upgrade, regardless of the number of categories added.

Which SQF courses do I need to complete in order to become a Consultant?

If you wish to register as a Consultant you will need to take an Implementing SQF Systems course. Prospective SQF Consultants must also demonstrate that they have attended a HACCP training course.

If you wish to register as both an SQF Auditor AND Consultant you will ONLY need to take the Auditing SQF Systems course.

Where can I find a list of training courses?

Contact a Licensed Training Center to take an SQF Implementation Course. A list of SQF Auditing System courses can be found on our Events webpage.

Which courses are acceptable for the Auditor Training requirement?

An Audit Training course specific to HACCP food safety, such as ISO 9000, GMA_Safe, SERVE SAFE, AQS and RAB/QSA are all acceptable to meet this requirement.

Why was my application declined?

If the Review Panel declines your application, an explanation will be e-mailed to you by the SQF Institute. For information on how to appeal the Review Panel's decision, please contact the SQF Institute.

Why must an auditor be affiliated with a Certification Body?

The SQF Program has many unique features that ensure trust and consistency in the auditing process as well as greater oversight of auditing activities conducted by companies and individuals operating on behalf of the SQF Institute.

Certifying Bodies are entities licensed by the SQF Institute, and consequently able to ensure that Auditors working on their behalf are performing audits in a manner consistent with the criteria for Certification Bodies and Auditors that is mandated by the SQF Institute and the SQF Program.
